River Access
With multiple points to enter the river safely this makes of an ideal point to start a float or paddle with the entire family.
Not to be confused with Farewell Bend State Park which is not located within the city of Bend.
This park, with it’s interlocking stone pathways, sits on the river and starts at the Southern Crossing Bridge or Bill Healy Memorial Bridge. and moves up on both sides of the river up to Riverbend Park & the city park department district offices and to a condo development on the south side. This park is one of the connecting parks that make up the Deschutes River Trail. You can travel through this park along the river to access the Old Mill district.
Children’s Playground: Donated by the Kiwanis, this playground is a tall structure making for some shade to play in during the late mornings and afternoons. Kids love to climb and look down on their watching parents. Also, this park is known for the climbing rocks as part of the playground. Great for kids who love to climb up on things.
Facilities: There are 4 well maintained washrooms next to the playground and seating for a lot of people under the covered area next to a large grassy field. The park also features river access across a sandy beach, a foot bridge, an interpretive boardwalk about marsh regeneration, an iron tribute to the loggers of old and plenty of picnic tables along with two covered meeting areas spread along the south side of the river.
Beyond the usual playground options, the large open field is a good spot for anything that needs a bit of space.
Hosting a birthday party here is a popular event for the park. The city doesn’t hold any major events here as parking is scarce for the popularity of the park. Especially during rafting season.
A nice walk along the river or a quick bike ride will get you to any of the Old Mill Restaurants and cafes.
